When CASTELLI created the first aerodynamic jersey for road racing in 2006, everyone thought we were crazy, including some professional racers. Back then, aerodynamics were reserved for time trials. Functional clothing allowed moisture to escape, and the Tour de France could be won in a loose-fitting jersey that was essentially a polyester t-shirt with pockets on the back. Even our aerodynamic consultants expected little or no advantage, which is why we named the jersey "Fraction of a Second". In the end, the benefits of the jersey were very significant, and we were able to start a revolution in the look of the professional peloton. The jersey is now in its seventh generation, and we've managed to improve it every time. We still rely heavily on CFD analysis of airflow in the riding position for material and seam placement, and with rider feedback we're able to create a jersey that's not only fast, but also comfortable over long distances. With the Aero Kid jersey, budding young cyclists can ride in the same jersey and enjoy the same benefits as their heroes in the professional peloton.
