Cyclingnews.com says "this jacket raises the bar for what a winter jacket can do" and it's exactly what the perfect winter jacket should be. We think we've made our best jacket even better in the form of the next generation, the Alpha Doppio RoS.
Even the best materials currently available with good levels of breathability can't cope with the sweat and heat generated by high-intensity riding. That's why we've developed a double-layer construction that allows you to unzip the wind- and water-resistant outer layer while the insulating inner layer remains zipped, and thanks to air circulation, moisture can escape. When climbing, you can unzip the outer layer completely to release moisture, then zipper it back up before descending, and you'll be perfectly dry inside. It works so well that it feels like magic.
For this generation, we've used a softer, warmer insulating material - Polartec® Alpha Direct. We've also made a few changes to the extremities of the jacket: the neck, the waist and, above all, the cuffs. We've lengthened and shaped the neck so that it moves with you, whether you're pedaling upright or stepping on your buddies during a January workout. At the waist, we created an elastic panel with a flat silicone hem that fits perfectly and prevents wind transfer without rolling or sliding up. We modified the wrist closure, which now features two layers. The inner layer fits snugly around the wrist and into the glove, while the outer layer wraps around the outside of the glove so that water runs off the outside and not into the glove.
This jacket will stand up to wet conditions, we've used GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ WINDSTOPPER® with waterproof critical seams at the shoulders. Other seams are hidden from direct contact with water, and the fabric's water-repellent treatment prevents most moisture from penetrating. The jacket is, as we say, "essentially waterproof", while maintaining the balance between water protection, breathability and comfort as far as possible. We're not saying that not a drop gets through, but we regularly go on long hikes in wet weather and we're completely dry. These features make it the favorite jacket of most of our ambassadors and staff, as well as the most versatile winter jacket we've ever made.
